You're right, it's likely that Diamond is part of the problem -- although one would hope that a publisher stayed on top of its releases enough to realize when there were problems, work with the distributor to get them solved, and answer customer questions about them.

I got David #3 and Opposite Forces #4 at my LCS today... two series finished, so far so good. That delay and the books not showing up on the online shipping lists seems to have been at least as much Diamond's fault as Alias's, this time around.

As I said in my Speakeasy comments, the one thing that turns people off to a comic, and a publisher for that matter, it's LATENESS. The general public will put up with it, to some extent, from the big two, because they have to. But they generally won't tollerate it from these new, smaller guys. Retailers thought that Alias put too much out too fast, and it seems that we were right.

On the other hand, this is still second-hand information. Diamond's shipping list isn't online yet and the initial poster in the thread you linked just copied information from the midtowncomics.com website. I, for once, have no idea how reliable that website is. We'll know more tonight, when Diamond posts their list.

Oh, that's a shame for the readers following that series. I can understand why economics drive those sorts of decisions, but it teaches readers not to buy miniseries at all.
