I bought Pinkett-Smith's comic, Menace. It was a protracted origin issue, drawn by Dan Fraga (who's had some very unflattering things to say about Liefeld in recent years).

What I can remember was a sloppy Crow pastiche, only difference being that the main character was a criminal who had been resurrected to redeem herself or something. Pretty much garbage and I got rid of it ASAP.

That Liefeld property was the never published, AFAIK, The Mark which sounded like a ripoff of Jim Shooter's Star Brand (a guy gets an alien mark on his hand that grants him super powers). Of course, Liefeld ignored the fact that Dark Horse had already published a comic featuring a superhero called the Mark for several years. I think he changed it to The Power of the Mark, but it doesn't really matter since, well, it was never publishhed.

Isn't this what Rob Liefeld's company planned on doing, with Jada Pinckett-Smith co-creating a comic?

It came out in November of 1998 according to the 'Net. That was less a "we'll succeed because she's a famous actress" and more of a suck-up to Will Smith who was going to star in the adaptation of a Liefeld property.
