Currently im on number 6 i just finished number 5 i hope my school has all of them :P there very fun to read and when i read the back of the first volume when it said go board i thought it meant a skate board kinda thing like a sci-fi manga but instead it was based on the game go silly me :)

I’m an avid shojo fan, but this is one of the shonen series I read. For the first time, I found what people thought was so captivating about “competitive” stories. There’s no romance, but there doesn’t need to be. It’s involving enough. It’s simple enough so that young kids will be able to read it, but good enough for older people to as well.

The art at first was too spartan and rough, without the wispy features I was used to. But then I noticed how skillful it was. It doesn’t distract you from the story, but instead compliments it. Its simplicity really works and highlight the tone of the manga. The way it works reminds me of Ai Yazawa’s art, in that at first I was turned off by its heavy use of black (though I now see how shojo-influenced it actually is) but later realized it was unique, fits the story, moves smoothly, and at the end, beautiful. The art seems to have emotions-or perhaps it’s just because the story’s so good, I don’t know.

Easily one of the best shonen series I’ve seen.

I LOVE HIKARU NO GO,the anime and the manga, they are great, I bought the episodes from viz media, I highly recomend it.

The genre of this series is games but is also psychological.

even though im 13 and i don’t throughly understand go yet, i believe this series of manga is awesome. It’s so cool to read and it made me want to play go. i recommend it to children who want to no things similar to japanese chess and english chess

One of my favorite manga. I voted for the writer (Yumi Hotta) and artist (Takeshi Obata) in their respective categories in that blogger best of 2005 awards. It’s unusual in manga that the writer and artist are different people. Not unheard of, but definitely not the norm.
