Maison Ikkoku concludes with book 15′s happy ending, after much drama and hard work.
Hikaru no Go‘s latest, book 6, has Hikaru meeting a new group of more serious Go students, many of whom are also motivated by competition with Akira.
In Tramps Like Us Book 8, Momo has a touching encounter with an older woman whose history resembles his. It’s an important reminder of how necessary caring for others is.
Rivkah also likes Tramps Like Us, and she has some great thoughts on the roles of women in shôjo manga, comparing American and Japanese books.

Um, was that a spoiler for Maison Ikkoku you just posted?

I was trying to keep things vague while still falling firmly within genre expectations. In other words, if you’re surprised that a romantic comedy has a happy ending, I can’t help you. :)

That Maison Ikkoku ending was very sweet and well done. I can see why Takahashi is so successful.

Point taken, though I guess I like the fantasy of still being kept guessing. Anyway, I’ve still got 12 volumes to go, so maybe I’ll have forgotten your post by the time I finish. :-)
