I could totally relate, as my daughter, who was in early elementary years at the time, was already butting up against a system that didn't want to give a little. I didn't "help", showing up for meetings with funny haircuts, ready to cooperate, but also ready to scrap. I read this volumeof H-S to my daughter, who's now a middle schooler, and she just loved it. She re-read it repeatedly for the next two weeks. Now for Ground Zero and B-Sides! I was enchanted with the Hopeless Savages when I read the Sunday strips about parent-tacher meetings.
