I wondered that, that’s why I mentioned the copyright dates above, but if that’s the case, why the recent date? Was it something she created, put away, and only much later published?

Did you know that Miki Aihara wrote Tokyo Boys and Girls much earlier than Hot Gimmick? The art style is sloppier. She has improved immensely over the years. Her style changed too. This was one of her earliest works, that’s why it’s not as good. Hot Gimmick remains one of her most recent work.
