My Cosplaying Days

Here’s an embarassing blast from my past: the one time I went in costume to a convention. Chicago, 1997, as part of a group dressed as the Legion of Super-Heroes.
I’m not in all of the group shots because that also happened to be the year I was appearing at the show as part of DC’s staff. (I was their webmaster at the time.) As a result, I could only sneak away to dress up for a short time.
A very talented craftsman named Leman Yuen made most of the outfits, including mine. He’s the one playing Gates, the bug creature. I was very impressed by how he made such a non-human character work as an outfit. Saturn Girl Sidne helped organize it, if I remember correctly, and my predecessor in my DC job, Mike Leib, was also part of the gang as Ultra Boy.

Ah, those were the days…
Someone needs to get the old gang back together. Tenth anniversary, the new Legion Reboot, and an upcoming cartoon. You’d make a great Atom Girl…

Gosh, he did a really good job on getting just the right fit. Not too tight looking nor very loose fitting looking.

In the “small world” department, I know the guy in the Star Boy costume. Ah, memories.

Hi Johanna, You never know what you’ll find when you google your own name. :) Never thought about doing an anniversary get together. Could be fun.
