Thanks, JD. It's one of those bugaboos of mine, like never using the word "mainstream" in reference to comics.

Lea, we've GOT to get together in person sometime and commiserate. :)

I appreciate what you have to say. It makes me go, "Okay, it's not just me."

You're right about stomping through the metropolis, too. Now that I can, I will talk about the misogyny I see, while also moving on to friendlier venues for my work.

I'm just leaving the fight over a particular city block because there's a whole metropolis to romp through.

I understand what you're saying. There are more important things to be worried about. But I think it's important to continue to point out problems with the portrayal of women in comics whenever you can. (And I'm sure you will.)

And I'm sorry if I gave the impression that I think superhero comics and comics are synonymous! I didn't mean to conflate the two terms. (Re-reading my post, I can see that I've phrased things sloppily.) Believe me, I know the difference. In fact, I just posted an introduction to graphic novels in which I specifically steer clear of the superhero genre.

I enjoy both superhero and non-superhero books, but most of the comics I read today don't have costumed crusaders. The quality just isn't there, but a lot of the old ingrained prejudices are.

Keep up the good work! I'll try not to misinterpret you in the future! :)
