RIP Alex Toth

As reported at the Toth Fans site, Alex Toth passed away yesterday morning. He will be missed.
Here’s part of a Comic Book Artist interview with him, and here’s a recent rejected cover (shown to the left) that demonstrates the simplicity of his line and how well he used black.
If you’d like to see more, Octopus Press is releasing a “doodle book” that will contain sketches and commentary. It’s available in the current Previews catalog, which means it’s due in August.

Good choice. Granted, he had a long run of it. Would that he’d been able to enjoy longer still.
He’ll be missed by many.

That’s really sad to read. I don’t think I’ve seen much, if any, of his work before. Yet the things I’ve been looking at just now are really amazing.
