I've seen advance copies of both the regular softcover and the deluxe hardcover, and I am extremely pleased with the finished books. Working with IDW has been a good experience. I'll be making a comic store appearance on Wednesday, August 16th, to celebrate the release of <i>Adventures in Oz.</i> It's at Jim Hanley's Universe in Manhattan, 4 West 33rd St., directly across from the Empire State Building, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Also, I'm just back in the USA from my two week trip to Troy--research for my comic series <i>Age of Bronze,</i> so if you're interested in hearing about that, stop into Jim Hanley's Universe and ask me about it. Just got the news yesterday and rushed around last night to put together a new endpaper illustration, which I turned in this morning (6/16). The rest of the materials went to press last week. (In some way, I don't want to reward that model, either--I'm getting tired of such "platinum releases" across all media, but that's a larger topic.) Shanower's a new favorite of mine, and the Oz mythos is an old favorite of my wife's, so this will certainly find its way onto our shelves. Thanks for the heads-up.
