Ah, finally someone who shares the DRAMACON love. It may not be Deep and Meaningful, but I thoroughly enjoyed this as a story making some serious and well-thought-out points amid all the sparkly fun. (Though David Welsh and I did get into a discussion about “the incident” [not to spoil anyone’s future enjoyment] over at Precocious Curmudgeon: IIRC we ended up agreeing to respectfully disagree. I don’t think it’s a make-or-break element for the title as a whole, however).

You’re referring to the spoiler-filled post here, I assume?
What David sees as inconsistency, I see as illustrating the subjective distinction between when I do something (and understand why, and that my motives are good) and when others do (which I might misinterpret). I thought it spoke to her skill as a creator that she was pointing that out and making it questionable whether Derek really was that bad, or whether Christie was young and immature in her assumptions.
In that light, the inciting incident then becomes the stark confirmation that no, she wasn’t misinterpreting. And even so, it was understandable, and it did reflect the often fuzzy lines that go on in teen sexual relationships. I sympathized a lot.
