Sidescrollers Preview

I left Sidescrollers (Oni Press, JUL06 3349, $11.95) out of my July Previews writeup because it was labeled a “prose novel”. This online preview shows otherwise; it’s a graphic novel by Matthew Loux, who previously illustrated F-Stop.

Videogame-playing slackers set out to get the girl one of them has a crush on. The editor compares the book to Dazed and Confused, which matches the preview pages. (Always a good thing, when the description is borne out by the sample.)

I did the same thing. Saw Matthew Loux’s name and thought “Oh! Cool!” and then saw prose novel and thought “Oh well” and then saw the preview and said “Oh! Cool!” again. And “Oh, damn, wish I’d known that when I was writing up my Previews review.”

Which makes me wonder, how many others passed it by because of the typo?

Maybe it’s a hybrid kind of thing, like ABADAZAD? That way, EVERYONE would be right!

Nope it’s a total OTP. Was it listed as a prose in the actual mag?
I’d better look into this. in the mean time you can check out some more sample pages at my live-journal.

OTP? The Previews ad for the book was headed “Sidescrollers – Prose Novel”. That’s what confused me. Thanks for the link!
