I like Indie Spinner Rack, Fanboy Radio, and Comic Makers. Comic Makers is kind of a how to on self publishing, and Indie Spinner Rack is the funniest one out there.

I was so "Derek-centric" in my last comment that I forgot to answer the question. As noted above, Comic Geek Speak are the big dogs in the yard right now. If you want to keep up with trade paperbacks and such, no one does a better job than Chris over at The Collected Comics Library. If you like a spotlight on the Golden Age, then The Golden Age of Comics is excellent. Two of my favorites are Bruce Rosenberger's Komicskast and About Heroes. I am going to check out The DivaLea show right now.

I'm not sure what the URL is, but if you go to the iTunes store, click on "podcasts," and search for MangaCast, you should get it. Or you can download the podcasts directly from http://community.livejournal.com/mangacast/ and listen on your computer.

Brigid, I’ve been invited to appear on a couple of podcasts, and I think that will be a good toe-dipping-in-water. From what I hear, it sounds like a lot of work, and I prefer writing (typing) to talking as a mechanism, but we’ll see how it goes.

What’s the URL for the MangaCast feed? I tried to give iTunes that URL, and it didn’t like it.

I found the “Comic Book Noise” website the other day. The only problem was that I couldn’t find the actual RSS feed for the podcasts. All I could find was a feed for the blog posts that include direct links to the podcasts. Help?

Ahem. If I may promote myself for a moment, Jack Tse and I do a manga podcast, MangaBlogCast, on an almost-weekly basis (three weeks on, one off). It’s a collaborative effort: I write a news script, mostly based on my blog, and Jack reads it and adds his own commentary. Lately I’ve been doing a solo segment as well, more commentary than news. I’d like to start doing creator interviews, but I have to figure out the technology first–it’s a little more complicated than just sitting down and speaking into the mic.

My podcasts are hosted at MangaCast, communities.livejournal.mangacast.com. At that site you will find a potpourri of manga-related podcasts, mostly done by Ed Chavez, Jarred Pine, and Jack Tse: Manga Curry no Maki, which is sort of a chat and commentary show; Maki side dishes, which focus on Japanese comics; and just plain reviews.

Also, Erin Finnegan, the Ninja Consultant, does manga reviews at Buzzscope. I really like her style.

Johanna, you really should try doing podcasts yourself. It’s not difficult, and if you have a Mac, you already have the hardware (although I do have a better mic than the built-in one in my computer) and the software. It would be a logical extension of your blog, and I bet it would be really good.

Comic Geek Speak are the juggernauts in the comic podcasting world – 5 guys who initially started out as total Marvel/DC fanboys (and that is still their main love) but its been really interesting to watch how podcasting has gotten them in contact with more and more indy authors and how they’re getting a much larger appreciation for other companies.
