How Did I Miss This?

I am going to have to see Avenue Q. I had never heard their song “The Internet Is For Porn” until I saw this Chobits remix. Hilarious! And very catchy!

I hope this doesn’t spoil it for you but there’s a few songs in Avenue Q that I love because I expected cynical humor based on their title, but the songs themselves turned out to be genuine tearjerkers.

Anyway, I think you’d enjoy Avenue Q. It’s a very funny and smart comedy, it’s cynical but not the apathetic kind of cynicsm that grates on me.

In the production I saw, the actress who plays Kate Monster did those little reactions perfectly (like that Ewwwwww! in the song).

After hearing this song, I’ve been trying to convince my friends to change that game where you add “in bed” to fortune cookie fortunes to use “for porn” instead.

I think I’d enjoy it because, you know, puppets! But what you say only adds to my interest.

I saw the 90-minute version of Avenue Q that ran in Las Vegas earlier this year, and had a great time. If I find myself in the New York area while it’s still running, I’m definitely going to see it again!

(Oddly enough, I did like it better than Cats…)

Avenue Q - highly recommended, especially for those of use in the Sesame Street/Muppets generation.

Tsk, tsk, Johanna–I could swear I told you at least a year or so back that “Avenue Q” had to go on your “must see” list. :-)

You’ll greatly enjoy it if you get the chance to get up to NYC–”The Internet is for Porn” is a great number, but as a pretty much one-joke bit, it’s one of the weaker ones, too, which says something about the quality of the show. “Schadenfreude,” “If You Were Gay,” and “There is Life Outside Your Apartment” are all among the best songs/scenes B-Way has produced in a long time, imo. And while “Spamalot” has some superb numbers in it, too, “Avenue Q” hangs together much better as a story and show. By all means: get thee to the Great White Way!

I hope to! I really need a good travel agent.
