For a start, she’s anatomically possible.

I also like the feeling the promo image gives me of how she’s lost in her own thoughts, i.e. that she has an internal life. I can’t convince anyone who doesn’t see that, but for me it makes it different from the usual “posed for the male eye” DC/Marvel stuff. Since you don’t see any “naughty bits”, it’s all atmosphere and suggestion, which puts it a step up. My opinion, anyway.

So how is that promo art different from the usual female portrayals at Marvel or DC?

I liked the writing fine, but I was bothered by how Adam Hughes the art was. I like Hughes’ work–I want something I haven’t seen.
And a promo image that doesn’t make me think, “Same stuff, different company.”

Certainly one of the more compelling web comics debuts since it has me anticipating the next installment. Still too early to tell how I feel about it beyond simple intrigue.
