You’re right. I didn’t think to check that, but almost $16 shipping on a $20 order is ridiculous. I know for me they’re sending clear across country, but still.

I was up for it, but that is outrageous shipping. SLG really needs to think about offering a mediamail option for people like me who are willing to wait a bit longer and save on shipping.

I have a hard time recommending The Waiting Place because it started out so strong and then limped to its ending. I never bought the last couple issues because by the time the series was wrapping up I stopped enjoying it.

For a little while after TWOP, I didn’t care for McKeever’s Marvel work because I didn’t think they were giving him stories suited to his strengths but his later projects (Sentinel, Mary Jane and Gravity) are among my favorite superhero comics.

I’m feeling cautious about his contract with DC. I’d love to see his strengths applied to the DCU characters, but the current state of the DCU doesn’t have anything I’d be excited to see him working on.

I always think twice about that comparison, just because I know some people really hated the show, but I do think it’s accurate, in terms of articulate teens pondering their lives… and every so often, something unbelievable happens. :)

I’m looking forward to what McKeever does at DC.

"It's like Dawson's Creek on paper." Gah! I couldn't stand Dawson's. But I loved The Waiting Place, which I started reading with volume 2 issue #1. I too didn't care much for Sean's post-WP work until Mary Jane (now Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane). Thank goodness my niece asked me to buy MJ #1; it does indeed rule.

Waiting Place was a great series – I fully recommend that.

However, even with SLG’s sale price, with added shipping it’s about the same price at Amazon (free shipping) for all three and cheaper if you only need one or two of the trades (like me).
