I'd given up reading it, but similar to what you're saying, Tommy, my husband suggested there were a couple of pieces I might want to see in the latest issue. So I'm going to give it another try. Something like that -- short pieces on disposable subjects -- makes for good bathroom reading. :)

I hadn't picked up a Wizard in forever so I didn't really care when I heard about the new EIC, that changed a bit Wednesday. They sucked me in with Buffy coverage and on the whole, the magazine isn't bad. I could take or leave the price guide and yes, there are a lot of juvinile jokes smooshed in there but I've enjoyed the articles I've read so far.

Excellent! Now we can have some really hard hitting articles in Wizard like "25 Secrets to make your SuperGirl scream for more in the bedroom!" and "Blast those Abs with our "Longbox Lift" program!"
Color me not surprised...

I think I might judge the book by the cover when it's released, thanks. While I've never bought/read Wizard, I'll be curious to see if an effort to get more mainstream/pop culture, he doesn't use some of his experience gained as "Associate Editor of Sports Illustrated For Kids". If I was a pundit who wanted to see Wizard change, I'd contact the new EIC and see if he's willing to listen to constructive feedback or engage in a dialogue regarding the image problem Wizard suffers from in some circles. Or we could just focus on his FHM work and assume it'll be more of the same. Or we could continue to voice our opinion with our wallet. And when I say I don't buy Wizard, I don't buy CBG either. Like many of us, I get my news from online. Oh, and if you contact the new EIC, don't forget to mention this.
