Two recent announcements offer cartoonists the chance to win prizes for their work.
The first is for an excellent cause. Lambda Legal, a “national organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and those with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work,” is sponsoring a illustration contest .
Create a comic strip showing life without fair courts and you can win nationwide magazine exposure or a comic shop shopping spree. Judges include DC Comics editor Joan Hilty, cartoonist Mikhaela B. Reid, artist Phil Jimenez, and George Stoll, art director for The Advocate. Deadline is March 15, 2007.
