When it came to Kirby and comics, everything he did was epic. As a matter of fact, I think it would be just great if DC gave Kirby’s New Gods saga the ” Ultimate ” treatment. It would be just fantastic to see that body of work under one oversized format.

I have to love Kirby’s dialogue. It’s kind of wacky, but there’s an epic quality about it.

and to think that someone at DC just a few years back thought it was a good idea to reprint these with gray tones instead!! Of course I bought those, but it was to send the signal that there was interest in these books — I won’t get my copy of this book until the end of the month from my mailorder vendor, and it’s going to be a long, long wait.

Huh I wasn’t even aware of this book. Has DC done Omnibuses before? I wonder how they hold up, and what the paper quality is.

As with you, I was never a big Kirby fan, but those preview pages are interesting.

As far as favorite artists go, Kirby was not a first choice for me, but I always enjoyed his sense of the dramatic, which was always a mainstay of any Kirby page layout. Charecters on his pages always were dynamic and seemed to have a life of their own and an urgency to whatever they might be depicted doing on his pages.

Speaking of comics, remember the old SuperFriends cartoons during the ’70′s? Well, imagine if they were turned into the current U.S. Political scene and done in the same way! You end up with The Challenge Of The Super-Duper Friends!
