That last bit? That was just a plug for the TV series, with the two versions of the characters meeting. At least, that's my interpretation.

I didn't get the end, did he dream everything or was it a flashback to the past where Hermes first saw him? The dream angle would be very disappointing

Adam, I have to disagree with you. I find it very believable that Train Man's self-doubt got the best of him and he chickened out of the relationship. The film clearly established his insecurities. I've known plenty of guys with similar self-esteems issues and so to me it seem natural he would bail. It's analogous to someone who isn't a strong swimmer going to the beach and having a great time swimming in the water. They stop for a moment and realize they are a lot further from shore than they've ever been and they panic. They've forgotten that they were able to swim out this far with no problem and so should be able to swim back too, but their fear gets the best of them and the call for the lifeguard. Thankfully, Train Man's love gave him the strength to over come his fear and we a happy ending.

What I really like about this film is how emotionally vulnerable the leading man is. It's the woman who is emotionally stable and mature. I'm not sure Hollywood could make a movie with this kind of relationship dynamic. I love the ending where Train Man is the one in tears unable to control himself and Hermes is the pillar of strength. This is the opposite of what we usually see in movies.

I enjoyed Train Man on DVD, but I never really "bought" Train Man broke up with Hermes towards the end of the movie. It was such a "WHAT THE?!" moment that it completely took me out of the movie because there just wasn't enough context to understand why he would do such a thing. I actually hated Train Man's character from that point on. It just seemed really forced in the movie and is probably the one thing that the filmmakers should've spent some time with because it hurt the believability of the finale... which is bad when you know this is based on a true story.

Aside from that one thing, I loved the rest of Train Man. And I really liked how they shot the internet scenes. That was probably worth the price of the DVD alone.
