Hope for the Future

Things change. Sometimes, it takes a lot of time and patience. Today, checking my referral logs, I noticed traffic coming from the message board of Brian Michael Bendis.
Now, those of you with long memories will remember that Bendis and I had a rather notorious online run-in back in 2000 where he encouraged his contributors to insult me. And as early as the beginning of this year, he objected to a quote of mine. So I clicked with trepidation, only to find this recommendation from an active contributor:
Nice little comics blog I found

I’ve browsed the site a bit. Good stuff. Articulate. Intelligent. Some manga, which isn’t really my cup of tea. Overall great stuff. I’m glad I stumbled upon this.
What a pleasant surprise! And it hasn’t been deleted yet or attracted any bashers or nay-sayers. Thank you, Rubicon, for providing a pick-me-up that reminds me to stay hopeful.

No problem. I’m glad I stumbled upon your site. I like your approach to reviewing, and I’m going to add this place to my daily read list. I was not aware of any of the previous animosity between Bendis and yourself, but I’m glad today’s mentioning didn’t flare that up.
Thanks for the mention.

I’m glad, too. It was silly then and sillier now.

Hi Johanna. I agree with Jason’s assesment of your site. I also happened to stumble across your blog while doing a google search for comic blogs. Commented twice now and have read your blog often, and included you in my blog roll. I will continue to come back…I just hope that at some point in time I can put word to blog as well as I have found that you and a few others already do.
