Happy News LinkBlogging

Pictures from and writeup of the Glyph Comics Awards, courtesy Mikhaela B. Reid. I wish I could have been there, but it looks like it went well. Mikhaela has a followup with more convention coverage.

After seeing previews of Mike Dawson‘s Freddie & Me, I’m thrilled to hear that it’s now got firm publishing plans for Spring of next year (2008).

Well, never thought I’d see this… in September, DC is collecting most of the Captain Carrot comics in their Showcase Presents format. That’ll make for a nice chunk of fun, even if I’ll miss the color.

From the early work department: Bryan Lee O’Malley draws kid Spidey. I love it when they give Spider-Man more outfits over his costume. It’s all so silly.

And to finish up, Tom Beland talks about his comic True Story, Swear to God, reader reactions, how to handle real life intruding on your story material, and what really happened with him and Lily. It seems quite honest and revelatory.

I was also very surprised to see the Captain Carrot Showcase, but it’s very cool! I had a honest-to-goodness, through-the-mail subscription to that series back in the day. It’s a lot of fun and folks should check it out!
