Loners #3 Cover Swapped – Why?

Loners #3 cover

A couple of months ago, I posted about Loners covers resembling teen movie posters. The cover of Loners #3 was supposed to mimic Pretty in Pink, as shown here and still visible on the Marvel site (second link).

However, when Loners #3 actually shipped today, it featured the solicited cover from issue #4 (the Weird Science homage).

Anyone know what happened? Did the #4 cover just match the story better? Did someone official raise a fuss over the first homage? Did someone send the wrong art file to the printer? I’m curious.

    Hello.

The Loners cover swap this month was simply a matter of the content of the third issue lining up better with the Weird Science cover imagery. The actual story changed a little since I wrote the original outline and Jason did the covers. Penance/Hollow became a bigger part of issue three and the crux of Julie’s story got bumped to issue four so we simply switched the covers.

    Thanks for asking!

    Take care,
