Fantagraphics Pushes More Retail Boundaries

In the latest Comics Journal, issue #283, there’s a full-page ad for the publisher’s physical Fantagraphics bookstore in which they also announce a kind of frequent buyers’ club.

Join the Fantagraphics 20/20 club for only $20!

  • 20% off all purchases via mail order or at our storefront [for a year]
  • FREE standard shipping on all mail orders
  • Optional PDF previews of new books
  • FREE annual renewals with every $100 spent per membership year
  • Many other surprises!

If you order from them frequently (especially since their catalog also includes books from other publishers), that’s not a bad deal, comparable to many comic store subscription plans I’ve seen. And after you pay for the first year, if you use the benefits, you’ll stay on the plan without additional cost.

I’m most curious about the PDF previews, myself. And the “other surprises”.
