Johanna, I think the difference between the DVD’s titles is because the single edition DVD’s listed above are for the Cartoon Network edited versions versus the unedited box set versions. (Some violence and language was cut.)

What I find interesting is that so many anime fans claim they only want ‘pure’ anime and demonize Cartoon Network for any edits made to shows, but a lot of someones out there are buying these ‘tainted’ Cartoon Network versions on DVD.

The other item to mention is that people were worried that Viz might be cutting their own throats by releasing a volume of Naruto a week. But the figures above show that money well for Naruto runs deep and close to bottomless, much like Dragonball Z and Pokemon.

More seriously, I’m impressed that Viz puts out such a great variety of books when they make so much from only one property.

Thankfully, that seems to have been their MO since 1998. Horray for Pokémon!
