So I’m idly checking out Sheena: Queen of the Jungle #1 only to see this. This, mind you, is the character’s debut in the story, the first time we see this powerful, mysterious woman.

In answer to the captioned question, “who– what– is that”, my answer can only be “a contortionist?” I don’t think a human body can do that — isn’t there a scary amount of torso hidden behind that giant thigh? gotta make sure we don’t block the boobies — but it does present an in-your-face crotch shot.
Speaking of face, who cares about that? Hair means not having to draw features or cheekbones. And what’s keeping that flaming arrow in the bow?

I really don’t want to speculate why this post was linked to “Roast Beef Hash”…
And I was sure I was going to be able to get a “two sided tape, just like the rest” joke out of the arrow. But no, she is holding it between her fingers as she grips the bow. I think that may be the only thing Sheena is doing that can be explained by Physics.

That girl’s got some strong fingers, then.
I can just hear my mother, “Queen? A queen would know to keep her legs together.”

Which jungle heroine would fight with fire arrows in the jungle? Does she expect unceasing monsoon weather? It doesn’t look wet enough for that…

Matt Baker must be turning in his grave. (For those who don’t already know: Baker was the mega-talented African-American artist who created the most memorable images of the Phantom Lady, as well as some of the most sophisticated romance comics of the late 1940s and early to mid-1950s). *His* jungle queens mightn’t have worn much more, but they never lost their dignity.

Wait til the cover for #2 starts making the interweb rounds. Dinosaur sex.
