Since it only serves to make Veronica look dumb really for seeing anything in the guy.

I also hate to do this, as I usually hate “if I was writing” analogy, but this has just stuck in me since I read the first part.

Yet I think the story would be more interesting if it was Betty making the mistake instead of Veronica. Since we rarely see Betty make judgement errors. (unless you count liking Archie:) )
