I quit. I throw in the towel. I admit that I do not have a clue. I don't get it at all. I don't know how many more ways I can say I don't get it when I don't get it because I don't. I have been visiting this regularly for 4 months, and I just don't understand. I have no problem with the stance on Marvel and DC today, I don't particularly care what goes on behind the scenes there or who wins or whatever. But I do not understand why so much energy is wasted on something that you get no enjoyment out of. The reviews here drip with condescension towards the overall idea of mainstream hero comics, like they are dirty little poor kids dressing like adults in their best clothes that are cheap Wal-Mart specials and the writers and artists are their parents who should know better that to drag such ragamuffins into polite company. I can even take that but the fact that you repeatedly state that you dislike Superhero comics but then continue to review them mystifies me. Why? Is it that much fun to take shots at DC and Marvel, the writers and artists who work for them? To question their talent and manhood or womanhood to put out such tripe as you see it? Maybe I'm being stupid, and I am really not taking it personally that you don't like superheroes as they are now, nor do I want this to come off as a personal attack. But their is SO MUCH GOOD STUFF OUT THERE! Why waste time on stuff that you think sucks? This is trend in blogging that bothers me more than anything, something that I couldn't put a name on until I read an interview with sportswriter Mike Wilbon, ironically on a sports blog. He said something along the lines that too many people get criticizing and ridiculing mixed up these days, and I agree completely. I think it would be a lot more of a statement if you and the rest of the "savage" critics let go of this subgenre that you denigrate every chance you get and embrace the larger whole of the medium instead of constantly attacking superheroes just to use up your stored insults and repeat the same rhetoric again and again. I don't see how you can justify this as mature behavior when you keep going back, knowing full well what you are going to get just to take shots at the people who read and create superhero comics. But like I said I don't understand and I'm pretty sure I don't want to.
