I'm not surprised by the decision. The middlemen in the print arena are afraid of getting cut out and do their best to bury the indy digital creators.

I have books and comics by Bill Willingham and others available for free at WOWIO and I cannot get a press release run on a major site.

The so-called "reason" for the rejection would have kept The Umbrella Academy and The Astounding Wolf-Man out of last year's FCBD promotion, though I doubt the FCBD committee would screw over Image and Dark Horse like they obviously are smaller publishers who "don't count".

It's time we support FICW (Free Independent Comics Week) - Celebrating the creativity, diversity and talent independent comic publishers provide mature readers.

We should applaud the honesty of the FCBD committee. At least they admit it’s about the money. It doesn’t matter the quality of the book you submit, if Diamond doesn’t think it will sale well, then tough luck. They don’t want your art interfering with their commerce.

I have to confess I think the FCBD committee is made up of the same people who make the decision which books to include in Previews. But maybe I’m being cynical here.

Johanna, I'm curious if you could (to channel NYPD Blue era David Caruso) "reach out" to someone like Marc Nathan who knows a lot of pertinent industry folks and may have an inkling of who to talk to learn more about the FCBD committee...

Thanks for making folks aware, as always.
