Boom!: Do Anything Different?

In response to the outcry over their MySpace promotion, I asked Marketing and Sales Director Chip Mosher if they’d do anything different if they could do it again. His response:

I wish we could have set the discussion table with the retailers distressed by the promotion in a different way. I just wasn’t prepared for how nasty it got, and how quickly it got nasty. It was pretty stunning. I think any valuable exchange of ideas about how MySpace might be feeding the sales was lost in all the saber-rattling by a certain segment, which is a shame.

Ultimately, it was great to see the promotion succeed on the level that it did. The second printing is already selling well and we’ve got a ton of anecdotal stories about winning over new retailers and converting old fans with this. BOOM! is committed to our direct market partners.
