I loved Shinchan so much so that I never missed any single episode of Shinchan on TV. It's a great animation...

The newer and slicker translation is a plus on the DC/CMX edition as the ComicsOne edition was horrible!
While not as grating on the senses as the ComicsOne version, they still pull out the joke re-writes and western pop culture references that the show does. That is a bit annoying as a fan that DC/CMX, Funimation, and Cartoon Network all do not think we are savvy enough to work through the cultural differences. I think you can still get to the core universal naure of the humour without having to hit the readers or viewers over the head with Family Guy ripoff rewrites.
