Two Last NY Con Notes

Ok, two more NYC Con notes:

First, the preliminary estimate of attendance is 64,000 people. I don’t know if that counts a weekend pass as 1 or 3 (as some other major conventions do), but I can certainly believe that many people were around, based on Saturday.

Second, if you want to be part of Artists Alley next year, you should apply online. It’s not purely based on order of application, although that’s one of the factors considered, along with “content” and “relevancy”. Applicants won’t find out if they’re accepted to buy a space until September 1. Is that typical of these kinds of shows, for that long a delay between application and confirmation? With the show in February next year, I guess five months is long enough to plan.

Take this with a grain of salt since I don’t remember WHERE I heard it from, but I’m under the impression that they count a three day pass as three people. In other words — Wizard Math.

I heard that BEFORE the number came out. I was guessing 30,000 – 40,000, total.

And I’m really sorry I couldn’t break out of the conversation I was in to talk to you when I had the chance over the weekend, Johanna. Next time, I’ll learn to cut people off politely. ;-)

So, good show for from way out of town to come in for? I think if I were to decided to go though, that I’d have to plan a few extra days. Since while some of the time would be spent at the con, I’d have to put my “tourist hat” on and really experience NY.

Oh, no, Augie, I was sorry to interrupt, but I just wanted to wave hi.

James, yeah, lots to do in the city!
