I suck at the boxing, rock the bowling and baseball though lately it's all about the Mario Kart Wii. Play's got a lot of fun games, but I'm with you on the cows. I'm all about racin' cattle.

Picked up some twenty dollar "party game" thing for the ladyfriend. It's got darts and skeeball which are kinda cool. A few other games are alright, but those two are worth the twenty, IMO.

Oh, sorry. You mentioned that you had one on Nintendo, but sounded like you weren't sure which, so I was trying to think of iconic moments from the games to jog your memory.

Yoshi was the green (or other colored) dinosaur that Mario could ride around on for extra speed in Super Mario World.

The angry sun is a reference to the desert (Egypt?) stages in Super Mario 3, where after a certain period of time, the sun would get angry and come down from the sky and zoom around the screen, trying to burn you.

David: Very much appreciate the suggestions, but you're assuming I know more about this than I do. Yoshi? Angry sun?

Super Mario Bros 3 is the classic Mario game for NES. It featured the desert stage with the angry sun, the racoon costume, the frog costume, and a host of other great moments.

Super Mario World is the SNES game, which is also very good. It's the one with Yoshi the dinosaur.

Personally, I'd suggest both of them. SMB3 is the classic game, but SMW is probably technically superior and has a much more interesting series of levels. Also? You can fly.

Get Mario Kart 64 from the download section. I find it very relaxing.
[ digression: I wish I could find a cartridge, since my only gaming console is a Nintendo 64 my neighbors sold me when preparing to have a baby. I'm now having parts of my friend's childhoods. ]
I hear the new Mario Kart is amazing, but I can only speak for the one I've played. I will also say that Super Mario 64 tends to make me very nauseous. Maybe it's the world's lack of friction.

I tried to check out the downloads, but there are so many of them. I thought it might be nice to get a simple Mario game, like I had on the original Nintendo, but I'm not sure which one I want -- there are like 8 different Super Mario whatever. I was looking in Virtual Console instead of the original WiiWare section, though.

Have you looked at the game downloads? I downloaded one called Defend Your Castle that's pretty fun.

Have you tried flicking your wrist to punch? It's kind of a weird side-arm motion, but it works well when you're tired.

I played a lot of Wii Boxing back when I lived with my 3 year old cousin. He would stand in front of the TV and basically actually box (sometimes actually punching the floor set!) and do really well. Coincidentally, he'd fall asleep after a few rounds :)

Blocking is a matter of bringing the nunchuck and remote up together, kind of like the dodge. You can also do a kind of victory dance if you quickly move your hands back and forth.
