With all those big-budget movies currently in theaters, lots of groups are paying attention to superheroes, especially if they can use them to advance their own message. Case in point: PETA, who have put together a top ten list of animal-friendly superheroes. Aquaman and Beast Boy are kind of obvious, but some of the other choices indicate a real familiarity with the source material, comics.
Update: Apparently, Batman does something Very Bad in Dark Knight, so he’s been kicked off the list with Hellboy added instead.

Hmm, they may have to remove Batman off their list when they see Legend of the Dark Knight.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure that somewhere in the long horribly convoluted history of Wolverine I remember that he was living in a cabin in the Canadian Rockies. That said, I guarantee he was eating meat and wearing fur.
And since when is Batman’s cape made of pleather?

I find it interesting that their No. 1 pick gets that status for supporting PETA rather than actually showing kindness to animals/saving them.

I’m sure that they would say that supporting PETA was the same as saving animals.

Except that having Wonder Man support PETA was probably more of a way to depict him as a typical celebrity with a cause celebre.
