Middleman Con Promos
August 14, 2008

Middleman buttons

When I heard that they were giving away Middleman buttons at the San Diego con, I asked my good friend David Oakes (maker of customized Lego heroes) if he could pick me up one. He went above and beyond.

Turns out there were eight buttons, and each had a catchphrase:

  • the show poster, Fighting Evil So You Don’t Have To!
  • the Middleman, That was some fine cow squirt
  • Wendy Watson, I save the world in my own way.
  • Ida, She’s a slacker!
  • Lacey, I’ve got gluten-free bread to make.
  • Noser, Only love can conquer hate.
  • Blob, Splooorsh!
  • Evil Luchadore, Mal en una mascara

But wait! There’s more!

They were also giving away fake Weekly World News flyers and a disc labeled “the official ABC family bootleg” that contains a promo clip and episodes 3 and 7, “The Sino-Mexican Revelation” and “The Cursed Tuba Contingency”. Big thanks to Dave for sharing all this! (But boo to him for keeping the cast-signed poster for himself!)

Don’t forget to enter the Middleman t-shirt contest! It ends Saturday.

Johanna, you are sooooo lucky! I would love to have a set of those buttons. Please let us know if you find out they’ve become available to purchase.

But the cast poster is mineminemineminemine! (Even if it does say “To Johanna” at the top. I can own that. My middle initial is J.)

I managed to pick up that “Weekly World News flyer,” but totally missed everything else… dang.

I got the WW flyers, but I’m afraid to try to scratch them. What happens?

David Oakes writes:

I have no idea what happens. That’s why I got you two.

(Yes, I am getting a “reading copy” of a booth give-away. Comic-con does things to your mind.)

Johanna writes:

And I appreciated your thoughtfulness. I also couldn’t quite figure out what to scratch. It didn’t look like your usual “shiny box here” rub-away.

David Oakes writes:

I think it is her entire body.

(And gosh, if I have to rub Natalie Morales all over to get to the truth, by golly, the truth is worth it.)

Set and spike!
