Yeah, Spaced did that with an "Homage-a-Meter" subtitle track, and so did the Muppet Show with a trivia track. It's a really neat add-on.

When they do the Middleman DVD set, they should have an option where you can watch the episodes Pop-Up Video style. The Pop-Ups would explain all the pop culture references, running jokes, and give behind the scenes info on the scene. That would be fun.

I agree with James… Middleman would make a great lead in for Eureka. They have a similar feel.

I already feel disappointed and I am an optimistic person. :)

If ABC decides not to pick up The Middleman for a second season they should at least put season one on DVD, of course with extras!

Thanks for linking to Mr. Spurgeon’s interview, it was interesting. Some of those pages looked really goof.

There had better be a DVD of Middleman as I have fallen for the series and want to see it all.

I hop it gets renewed for at least one more season. Though having its home be the ABC Family channel just seems odd. If it was on say Sci Fi Channel as say a lead into Eureka I think it’d do really well.

Everyone’s still hopeful, but it’s not looking good from what I hear. I think it depends on lots of things we don’t know — like whether ABC Family wants to give it time to grow or whether they have better alternatives or whether they factor in how devoted the fans are. I do have hope… but I’m used to being disappointed. :)

Does the article actually say that Middleman is gone? They’re cutting the last episode, but could there still be hope for another season, particularly if fans make their voice heard?

Financial considerations will win in the end, unfortunately, but you would think in this day and age of niche advertising, that niche programming would do better. Then again, TV, lik publishing, is more expensive for the little guys.

I really enjoyed ABC Family’s Three Moon’s Over Milford, another short run kind of sci-fi show, and that only lasted 8 episodes, and probably will not ever get to dvd.

Hey, maybe they’ll follow Stargate and others and make straight to DVD Minuteman movies? That seems like a viable working model in today’s world.

I believe there is some interest in a DVD set, which would thrill me no end. And yeah, ABC Family was a strange choice for it.

I’m sorry to see Middle Man go. I wish they would run it on network ABC. I know the show’s audience is out, they just need to give the show a chance to reach them.

I hope they put this on DVD. It would make a great Christmas gift for a few of my friends.
