I discovered it at, of all places, Disney World (the restaurants at Epcot, where each section represents a country, are quite good, or at least they were when my family went in the mid-1990s). The Norwegian restaurant had it, and we asked what it was called, and from then on my parents actually bought it from time to time, though I'm not sure where they found it. I hadn't had it in probably 10 years, partly because I'd forgotten its name, until I saw some at Whole Foods a few months ago and picked it up.
