I’ve read some of Tekwar and didn’t care for it.

If Shatner had negotiated a reasonable deal with the TekWar material, the publishing rights to those stories would’ve reverted to him when the books went out of print (although admittedly in that case, there may be complications linked to the TV series of that property.)
