Mommy blogging is a hot new trend; now here comes the Mommy comic.

One of the newest members of comic collective act-i-vate is Jennifer Hayden, with a comic called Underwire. She describes it as “about womanhood, selfhood, and parenthood in the prime of life (your forties).” Her first story, “Watercress”, tells of lunch with her 12-year-old daughter in the city.

I look forward to seeing more from her. Since her background is illustrating children’s books, each panel is a complete scene. I’m curious to see if she moves into using paneled pages. Her next story is due up at the end of this month.
