Here’s a sample from the new Popeye cartoon collection, featuring Popeye and his Pappy’s rather unique family relationship. Much as they hate each other, it makes for some fun animation.

Flagpole sitting, what a fad! I like the wobbly soundtrack, when appropriate.

Of all the re-issues coming out, THIS series has tempted me the most. I maintain that the Fleischer POPEYE cartoons are still some of the best realized animation on Earth. AND they still make me bust a lung laughing!

I had never seen many of them before, and they truly are impressive. I was also surprised by the topics and attitudes they reflect.
