Johanna, I think the fact you encountered this first as a manga where you have more control over the pace might be the biggest factor.

Even when I think of US animation, I only reserve the word frantic for stuff like Chuck Jone's Road Runner cartoons or Tex Avery's work.

I would like to see a few more episodes before making any final decision. A couple of episodes were Sgt. Frog interacts with human family would be nice.

I wondered if my relative lack of familiarity with anime (I've mostly watched longer films, not episodic comedies, and few even of those) would trip me up here. You're right, this would make an excellent Saturday morning show... if they still did that.

I actually liked the episode. As far as anime go, this isn't really all the frantic. It's obvious that Funimation is being loose with the translation, but it works well here. This episode had the feel of an old 70's Hanna-Barbera Saturday morning cartoon, particularly Super Friends. The narrator seemed to be a parody of that narration style. It's a shame that this isn't going to aired on TV, because I think it'd actually might have a shot at being a hit with school age kids, and those still lost in their childhood (like myself).

Sounds more like they want to get focus-group feedback without organizing a private session or paying associated costs. Or that they don't know how to go about organizing a proper focus group.
