Yakitate Japan Rice Cooker Bread Recipe
Posted in Manga News, Recipes on November 13, 2008 by JohannaWhen I reviewed Yakitate!! Japan Book 2, the manga about baking bread, I mentioned that it contained a recipe to make bread in a rice cooker. Now, I’ve found the recipe. This blogger posted it, along with her experiences making it and a video clip of how it was done. (The video’s in Japanese with subtitles.) Makes me wish I had a rice cooker, but I don’t eat rice that often.

I love that recipe, and my friends have tried it with success. It’s pretty easy to make, too.

Ooooh, mmmmm. I’d say I need a rice cooker, but I think at this point I should go straight for a bread maker. :)

FWIW, a rice cooker also steams vegetables nicely… or so I’m told because my mother would always throw out the steamer attachment right away. I hear the way the automatic shut-off works, you get perfectly cooked sweet potatoes. Still, I’m clearing space on my counter for a mixer and a waffle iron first.

If you don’t have a rice cooker, try this
bread recipe that uses a hard drive.
