My Favorite Thanksgiving Episode

This really picked up our mood this morning: It’s the WKRP Turkey Drop! (And not on YouTube, which means less chance of being blocked.)

As we enter into the American Thanksgiving weekend, I want to let my readers know how thankful I am for all of you, and wish you a happy and safe holiday.

Instead of a degraded copy from a pirate site, here’s an actual legit online version of it from Hulu: http://tinyurl.com/huluKRP

Since when is yahoo.com a pirate site?

  4. Nat Gertler Says:

When they’re hosting pirated materials like that, they are.

I say three minutes qualifies as fair use, since it’s used in a journalistic context like this one. I find “pirate” an emotional term of little practical use these days. It’s usually dragged out only to demonize the opposition.

And geez, Nat, it’s Thanksgiving. Did you have bad turkey? You could have just shared the link without feeling the need to be so condemning.

I have trouble seeing three minutes, the heart of the show, as qualifying as “fair use”, particularly when the “journalistic context” is saying that this is something that picked up your mood this morning; it’s not as though it’s an in-depth critical look at the work.

And if there’s some other term you’d prefer for infringing on the rights of others, perhaps its best to put it forth.

Yes, I could have just put forth the link - but it would have seemed pointless without stating the link’s advantages. I’m not really worried about the clip’s feelings for being called degraded.
