Boy, I wouldn’t have thought those two things went together. On Wednesday, December 10, comic book artist/director Frank Miller is Guest Programmer on Turner Classic Movies. He’s selected:
- The Naked City, a gritty New York crime drama
- High Noon, the classic solo tough guy Western starring Gary Cooper
- The Bishop’s Wife, due to its cast
- The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, another New York-set film from 1974
If this is like other Guest Programmer nights, he’ll be visible in short clips introducing the films and explaining why he picked them. And probably plugging The Spirit.

Say hat you will of Miller but that’s a great collection of movies. The Taking of Pelham One Two Three is one of my favorites.

Oh, yeah — I just find Bishop’s Wife a case of “one of these things is not like the other”.

Just when I think I can finally wash my hands of Frank forever, he goes and pulls “The Bishop’s Wife”.
Curse you for having a modicum of taste, Mr. Miller, curse you…

“Say hat you will of Miller”
That’s a great typo or a great Freudian slip, whichever it was.

agree wholeheartedly w/Ian Brill about ‘Pelham’ — witness Walter Matthau in all his 70s bad-assery
