i found this review by looking for pics of this series. and i gotta say i'm overall UNHAPPY with this set.i'm glad it was officially released, but for those who may get this there are things you should know:
the good news is:
the color has been cleaned up(though some parts of the opening titles are partially recolored on some) and the sound i great.classic stuff.

the bad news is: some end titles have been edited (not due to the famous studios logo as that's in the begining)and a intro or 2 is edited.i don't know why but its anoying.and these are not as cleaned up-or "remastered" as much as i had hoped.some have alot of film or dust particles visible and one episode is so bad i don't think its was cleaned up.

i have a public domain set and to be honest it was only $2. and the sound is as good, each episode is much better looking w/o all the particles(other than the somewhat faded color) and they are uncut.i actually prefer the public domain set.very disapointed in this new set.

I think the "Fleischer Batman" was done by Dini and Timm. :) Hawkman would have been amazing, though. What a neat idea!

Does Lucien have an audio-visual branch to keep up with the times?

Appreciate the review very much. This caught my eye - I passed because I figured there will eventually be a Blu-Ray publication. But -curse you!- now I think this is worth picking up.

Wouldn't it have been nice to have seen a companion of Fleischer Batman shorts? Or of the early, Kubert-meets-Howard Carter
Hawkman?

Maybe in Lucien's library.

Again, thanks for the review, and thanks to the missus for the site.

Any idea on how these compare to the Diamond produced DVD? Those too were considered cleaned up and remastered. When they first came out people were very impressed with the results:

Another influence these cartoons had was on the Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow movie.

Even unrestored these were amazing cartoons. Mechanical Monsters has long been a favorite of mine. I can't wait to see the restored versions.

As a longtime fan of Max Fleischer, it's great to see that there's still some interest in his cartoons.
