Rin-Ne Delayed
Posted in Manga News on April 29, 2009 by JohannaSo the recent big manga launch of Rin-Ne has hit a snag… the next two chapters will be delayed due to Japanese holidays. (via John Jakala)
It launched on April 22, and on a weekly schedule it should run April 29, May 6, and May 13. Instead, it’s running May 2 and May 13. In other words, by its third episode, it’ll be one installment behind. This is the kind of late track record that usually only befalls superhero comics. Is Viz learning from Marvel?
Update: John has more information from Viz.

Is it behind schedule or just not scheduled for this week?
April 29th was a national holiday, and so are May 3rd through 6th. Pretty much the whole of Japan has those days off.
In the U.S., do new comics come out on Christmas Day?

That’s true, this is a planned delay, not late creators. That’s an important distinction. Thanks for pointing it out.

So it hasn’t “hit a snag” and won’t “be one installment behind.”

Oh, I think it’s fair to say that launching a weekly strip and not running part 2 a week later can be considered something of a snag, at least to readers.
