I think her popularity peaked in around early 2000s with the hit movie My Sassy Girl.

This is suppose to be billed as her North American debut but I don’t think it’ll make much money. There’s been no marketing for it whatsoever. Then again it seems US producers have a hard time figuring out what to do with Asian properties.

Depending on how good it is, of course, but the original movie was quite excellent and I’m pretty sure there are very few people who wouldn’t go see a movie about teenaged girls killing vampires with swords, honestly. Cheesy tagline aside I think the film definitely has some non-otaku attraction to it, so I hope it will be good and do well.
