I really appreciate Shout Factory. They put out DVD sets fans love, because they’re willing to put out cult favorites, and the sets are made from a fan perspective. (That’s one of the many reasons I’m so excited about the upcoming Middleman DVD set — Shout Factory is behind it.) It shouldn’t surprise me that they’re so tuned into pop culture, since they’re run by former Rhino Records execs.

Transformers DVD set

Their newest set available for pre-order is The Transformers. The 25th Anniversary “Matrix of Leadership” Collector’s Edition has 16 DVDs containing 98 restored episodes and bonus features, including featurettes, “voice cast reunion”, interviews, and archival toy ads. (Remember, that’s what these were originally.) Plus, the set comes with magnets and a “collectible 60-page book” — all for $140, which includes shipping. Orders placed from now through June are scheduled to arrive by July 13.

I REALLY want this, but can’t afford it currently. Its so weird to see my 2 childhood favorites, Transformers and G.I. Joe, with movies this year.
