I’d blame some people. First, blaming broadcasting is really blaming the people who broadcast. Second, that too-tight corset-lacing trend happened before mass broadcasting.

Meanwhile, it’s not just women who suffer. I’ve heard of girls and boys and men being pressured to warp their bodies in the name of “good looks” too. For one example, in the bodybuilding scene some people build muscle through exercise and healthy eating alone but some others feel pressured to go beyond that. The thing is, steroid abuse can also promote mammary gland growth, which some other guys have naturally. Then both the guys who were pressured to take steroids and also the guys (whether bodybuilders or not) who naturally have breasts also face pressure to get masectomies (a double-whammy for the former and society rejecting them for their natural bodies for the latter). Didn’t care for Fred not being blonde in this film; I didn’t recognize “that black-haired kid” was supposed to be Fred until some character pointed him out. :-p

Yes, to me, Scooby was bought by Shaggy (or his parents) as a pup as well. Odd that the movie made various call-outs to “A Pup Named Scooby Doo”—Scooby’s “real name”, the gang’s hometown being named Coolsville, etc.—but kept them as teenagers instead of middle-schoolers.

Was amused they nailed down a specific state for Coolsville—-Ohio; they even cited Lake Erie in one scene. Maybe a future film could show the gang investigating some haunting at the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland…

I haven’t watched the movie myself yet (it’s on the TiVo), but I know it can seem wrong if you have a picture in your head and the actors don’t live up to it. And based on the image I posted above, I’m not much of a fan of the dress either.

but i’ve spent too much time in several forums debating with a horrible kind of people which automatically made me alerted to strike back at any kind of hidden or obvious attack. LOL :)

Actually i don’t hate how she looks..i hate how she dosn’t fit to resemble daphne in the external shape..and what i hate even more is that dress they choose to put her in as i said in my 1st comment.

What is most interesting to me is that almost all the current incarnations of Scooby Doo have real ghosts, witches, vampires, etc. In the original series they were all hoaxes. So I keep wonder why they made that change.

I have noticed, and I’ve noticed that it takes more than a natural hourglass figure to resemble Daphne. IRL some women did manage that look – by having a couple of ribs removed. Others came close by constantly having their corsets laced so tightly that their lower rib cages eventually squashed some of their internal organs.

Fanboy? I’m a heterosexual woman who isn’t even attracted to Kate Melton (Robbie Amell OTOH, now he’s cute ;) ) and still thinks it’s nasty to call the actors and actresses trash just because you don’t like how they were cast.

Any reader with half a brain will easily realize that i am talking about resemblance,When the cartoon artist drew the character he was resembling the hour glass body type – which could be easily found in “humans” if you noticed – but this actress have a pear body type that they made it look worse by that maternity dress they put her in which drove the whole thing far away from the original character’s body type as the creator choose to create her.

You can easily find a good characterizing of daphne from the scoopy doo movies that sarah meshal geller played..now that’s how the character should be.

Of course they don’t look like the original team. The originals are cartoon characters. The actors and actresses in the photograph are human beings, with human bodies that can’t be modified to meet the exaggerations of the cartoons without health hazards (for example, getting the original Daphne’s waist-to-hip ratio on a human body requires rib removal, not just athletics). Is that any reason to call them trash?

After all, if you’re sexually attracted to cartoons or blow-up dolls or whatever then that’s one thing, but condemning someone for not being what your sexual orientation is oriented to is totally another thing. You condemning Kate Melton for looking like a healthy human being instead of a cartoon caricature makes as little sense as a lesbian condemning men for looking like men instead of women would make.
