Huh, that’d be the third time I’ve seen the pair-bonding vampire in manga…the first two being Millennium Snow and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles.

I wonder if, like you said, it was a useful trope some shojo writer came up with or if they have legends like that. Clamp and Hatori Bisco also both include the idea that the human is physically strengthened by committing to the vampire.
